Peppermint Bark Oreos

Peppermint Bark
Like a holiday miracle, peppermint bark first appeared on candy counters in the 1960s. Peppermint has since been proven to stimulate brain activity, improve memory, and help you relax. Thus, peppermint bark is the perfect treat for those pre-holiday exams! In October 2019, Nabisco released Peppermint Bark Oreos. Will they power us through the holiday season? Let's find out! We are B and V and WE RATE OREOS!

Flavor Creativity
B- I vote Yes to creativity. You'll see peppermint bark pieces sprinkled on top of the whipped cream on drinks or after cookies have been rolled out and cut but not usually a cookie that turns itself into the bark!

V- I say it's creative! Peppermint bark is a complex treat. You need to get the balance of white chocolate, milk chocolate, and peppermint just right. It was bold of Oreo to pack three big flavors into a little sandwich cookie. If done well, this could truly be special!

Flavor Execution
V- It's delicious, and the peppermint comes through especially well. These cookies are stronger than the regular Mint Oreos, so be warned! The chocolate cookie works well with the peppermint creme, but I did not taste the white chocolate. Once they get the trifecta down, the peppermint bark cookies will have me. The texture was just right. There are little bits of peppermint sprinkled in the creme for the crunch factor.

B-  It was executed enough. Simply because I forgot peppermint bark was made white white chocolate *shrugs* and simply for having the bits of peppermint in there. But you can definitely taste a difference between these and the regular mint or the chocolate chip mint ice cream ones even if it's just a matter of being tricked by the texture.

Does it Sparkle?
B-  Like a snowflake that catches the sunlight just right... As far as a cookie goes, they're festive but yet not an abnormal forced festal color like if someone had simply thrown food coloring dye in there.

V- They're lovely. I love the bits of peppermint in the creme! They look like cookie versions of peppermint bark, and you should know exactly what you will be tasting moments later.

Pairing
V- Egg Nog! Hot Chocolate! Peppermint Wine! I enjoy them with my Bigelow Salted Caramel Tea.

B- Not so much a pairing suggestion but more a serving suggestion: use in place of an after-dinner mint. And combine with a crackling fire to enhance the crackle of the peppermint stick pieces. Idk why these are stirring up so much imagery for me lol.

Buy Again?
B- Yes. For home/self or to take to a *holiday* (politically correct with no religious affiliation) party. They're festive enough to feel in the Christmas (ok, I said it) spirit but tasty enough to enjoy anytime.

V- Mint has always been a powerful flavor for me (I could never even finish a candy cane). I can only eat one or two at a time, so probably not. But if you're a mint fool, I highly recommend these!

Final Thoughts
V- They're good! Peppermint bark is a creative but difficult dessert to reinterpret, and I think Nabisco did a great job.

B-  Oreo does it again #approval
