Latte Oreo Thins
Latte Love
A little espresso and steamed milk are a sure equation for energetic bliss. Lattes are both delicious and a unique creative outlet. The Latte Art World Championship, U.S. Latte Art Throwdown, and Japan's Matcha Latte Art Competition are just some events where the latte world's most creative minds show off their masterpieces! In July 2019, Nabisco released Latte Oreo Thins as a permanent edition to the Oreo family. Will these cookies warm our souls and get those creative juices flowing? Let's find out! We are B and V and WE RATE OREOS!
Flavor Creativity
B- Yes, full points.
V- Definitely creative! They are not just coffee or mocha flavored, but latte. I don't see this flavor often in non-liquid desserts!
Flavor Execution
V- The flavor is well-executed. I can taste the milk and the creme overall is just a little sweet. It compliments the chocolate cookies perfectly! My only regret...these should not only come in thins. I wish I could get regular-sized Oreos with the full portion of latte creme.
B- I have to agree with V on this one considering an actual latte drink is more parts milk than espresso. Of my collective family pooling, they also agree about the regular size Oreos in this flavor over the thin size.
Does it Sparkle?
B- This is where the "thin is fancy" component applies. I'm not sure why that and small cakes are a dessert trend but it must look nicer on pastry platter or a tea cake tier. Pinkies up!
V- In the spirit of great latte art, putting unique designs on the cookies could have been really cool! But even without all the frills, the latte Oreos look nice. You'll know what they are when you see them.
Pairing
V- You might think chocolate wine would be a good pairing, but that stuff is nasty. Try these with a little whipped cream, matcha tea, or your favorite milk!
B- You also might think a latte would be a good pairing, but that's too much similarity. These would be decent with a less-sweet/more bitter form of coffee. Then instead of creamer to balance it, you have that in cookie form.
Buy Again?
B- They are solid but I wouldn't necessarily buy them again. If I'm going to consume my daily calories in Oreos for the three days it takes me to eat a box, I have to be pretty impressed. Maybe if they could put in some "added caffeine" like they do with vitamin D in orange juice, I would consider it more highly.
V- They are good, but not Lemon Oreos good. But I am not a big coffee person, so don't let that discourage you! My research indicates these are permanent additions to the Oreo family, so get them at your leisure.
Final Thoughts
V- It's a very good Oreo and creative to boot! As someone who likes the coffee part of a coffee drink to be all but hidden under sweet stuff and pretty designs, I am so into this cookie.
B- I didn't like them on first taste (just like coffee) but then I started to really like them after that (also just like coffee).
